Job Title: Groovy Developer with Jira & Java

Location: McLean, VA
Type: Contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain custom Groovy scripts to automate Jira workflows, post-functions, validators, and triggers.
• Create and manage Jira customizations (fields, workflows, permissions, schemes) to support enterprise-wide DevOps processes.
• Build automation pipelines for software delivery, integrating tools like Jenkins, Bitbucket, Git, etc.
• Utilize Java expertise to develop internal tools, RESTful integrations, and support legacy Java-based automation modules.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to streamline the SDLC through automation.
• Monitor, maintain, and improve CI/CD infrastructure and environments.
• Implement best practices in code management, pipeline optimization, and system reliability.

Required Skills:

• 4+ years of experience in Groovy scripting (especially in Jira context ScriptRunner or similar).
• 5+ years of Java development experience, preferably before moving into DevOps.
• Hands-on experience customizing and automating Jira (Cloud/Data Center).
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and version control systems (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
• Familiarity with REST APIs, OAuth, and integration patterns between tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, etc.).
• Solid Linux/Unix command-line skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with ScriptRunner for Jira or similar Atlassian Marketplace apps.
• Familiarity with Ansible, Terraform, or other IaC tools.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and Atlassian toolchain administration.
• Experience with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
