Description
The IT Technician provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support across the organization, focusing on escalated incidents that require advanced troubleshooting. This role involves resolving complex issues related to hardware, software, networking, and peripheral devices. Responsibilities include rotational coverage of the support phone queue to manage overflow and high-priority calls, ensuring prompt and effective resolution. The technician also collaborates with Tier 1 staff to enhance knowledge sharing and contributes to continuous improvement of IT support processes and service quality.

The IT Technician provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support across the organization, focusing on escalated incidents that require advanced troubleshooting. Responsibilities include rotational coverage of the support phone queue to manage overflow and high-priority calls, ensuring prompt and effective resolution. The technician also collaborates with Tier 1 staff to enhance knowledge sharing and contributes to continuous improvement of IT support processes and service quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- 40% - Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues involving hardware, software, networking, mobile devices, and peripherals (e.g., printers, scanners). Escalate unresolved issues to Tier 3 or engineering teams with detailed documentation.
- 15% - Monitor systems and ticket queues. Participate in post-incident reviews and apply findings to prevent issue recurrence.
- 15% - Manage hardware/software inventory using asset management tools. Assist with imaging, configuration, deployment, and ensure compliance with organizational standards and security protocols.
- 20% - Provide rotational support for the phone queue, assisting Tier 1 with overflow and high-priority calls. Ensure timely escalation and resolution of complex incidents.
- 10% - Ensure all configurations and resolutions align with IT policies, change control procedures, and security best practices. Support patch management, software deployments, and infrastructure updates.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform tasks independently with minimal supervision, prioritizing effectively and documenting actions.
- Escalate incidents appropriately to minimize downtime and maintain service quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications
- Minimum of 2 years' experience troubleshooting PCs, printers, phones, and infrastructure issues
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows 10/11, Office 365, Active Directory, SCCM, Entra, and Intune
- Solid understanding of networking, wireless, and telecommunications fundamentals
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Customer-focused mindset with a high level of responsiveness and resourcefulness
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Willingness and ability to travel to other locations as needed
