Position: Business Process Designer - AI

Location: 100% remote - must work CST hours

Hours: Regular business hours

Compensation: $75-$85/hr depending on experience

Job Type: 6-month contract that will extend every 6 months based on performance & business needs

Overview:

You would play a critical role in shaping our client's transformation toward AI-first operations. This individual will work closely with the VP of Innovation & AI, the broader innovation team, and cross-functional stakeholders-including business units, faculty, academic operations, and technology teams-to lead business process redesign in alignment with major AI initiatives. Acting as the enterprise's process design lead, this person will map current-state workflows, identify high-value opportunities for AI optimization, and design seamless future-state processes that integrate AI systems with existing platforms and operations. This is a highly collaborative role that blends systems thinking, analytical rigor, and a deep understanding of how AI changes the way work gets done.

Requirements:

• 8+ years in business process design, operations strategy, or enterprise transformation.
• Proven experience in process mapping, systems thinking, and workflow optimization.
• Strong understanding of AI's role in business processes.
• Excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in business and academic environments.
• Familiarity with tools such as Lucidchart, Miro, BPMN, or process mining platforms.
• Background in education, healthcare, or tech industries preferred.

Process Redesign & Analysis

Lead process redesign for high-impact AI initiatives across the student and employee lifecycle

Map current-state workflows with business units to identify friction points, inefficiencies, and AI-readiness gaps

Identify optimization opportunities by isolating repeatable, high-volume, or decision-heavy activities best suited for AI enablement

AI-First Process Design

Design AI-first future-state processes that integrate automation, intelligent agents, and human-in-the-loop decision points

Define data flows and handoffs between AI systems and core platforms (e.g., CRM, SIS, LMS, ERP) to ensure end-to-end process continuity

Collaboration & Implementation

Collaborate with business, faculty, and IT to validate designs and support pilot planning and implementation

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

Support the development of playbooks and reusable templates for process assessment and AI workflow design

Document outcomes and share learnings to inform enterprise-wide process modernization efforts
