Flight Deck Engineering Senior Manager

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Flight Deck Engineering is seeking a Senior Manager (Level L) to join their team in Everett, WA. This position reports directly to the Flight Deck Chief Engineer and will support all BCA programs.

Position Overview:

We are tasked with ensuring that the today's designs receive premier support and new and future designs are loved by pilots, advance aviation safety, and improve operational efficiency.

In Flight Deck, we define the look and feel of the interface for the pilots and are responsible for that design from the drawing board to the entry into service of an airplane. We are authorities in flight operations coupled with outstanding knowledge of how flight crews operate our airplanes - including what their needs, tasks, and constraints are - and we work closely with pilots from all over the world to deliver industry leading flight decks.

We are seeking an engaging and motivated Senior Manager that will be integral in our flight deck program coordination and communication, particularly as it relates to current in-production and development programs. To achieve these goals, the successful candidate will lead a team with varied strengths that will work together with the Flight Deck Crew Operations, Human Factors Design teams to ensure program needs are understood and communicated clearly to the team and that solutions are identified and coordinated in a timely manner.

In addition, you will maintain customer happiness with the ultimate goal of continuing to support and promote the delivery of the highest quality product and services from the Flight Deck team.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a Level L Manager leading the Flight Deck Program Operations team, you will guide and complete a wide variety of dynamic and exciting work on central initiatives for both in-service and future flight decks. The role responsibilities include:
  • Lead the development of plans and execution of Flight Deck statement of work to meet BCA airplane program priorities
  • Lead by positive example and support the career growth of the first line managers and team members on the Program Operations team
  • Ensure a team is in place that cultivates a continuous creative and multidisciplinary approach to problem solving with respect to responding to and performing the work related to program needs
  • Routinely engage with program leaders, managers and members in Flight Deck Design, Crew Operations, and Human Factors to understand emerging requirements, work assignment needs, technical work updates, roadblocks and challenges, lessons learned and historical perspectives
  • Lead a diverse team of program-focused members that is focused on completing to the agreed upon plans
  • Lead regulatory strategy for Flight Deck Human Factors compliance and communications
  • Serve as the Flight Deck Engineering Safety & Airworthiness (SAW) senior manager
  • Work to ensure Flight Deck functional teams are regularly advised of progress, issues, the latest status and successes related to the various program execution needs and work you're doing
  • Serve as a project management focal for team initiatives and engage in routine updates to program and functional leadership team
  • Build and maintain outstanding relationships with internal program and multi-functional collaborators, pilots, and customer flight crews in order to support current and future development efforts that may vary by program
  • Promote a culture of customer-focused results that is enabled to respond quickly to needs
  • Mentor and empower the emerging team members and leaders to accomplish individual professional and personal goals

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett, WA.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 3+ years management experience
  • 5+ years experience leading teams or projects

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pilot certificate is a plus
  • Human factors experience and/or credentials
  • Flight operations and/or maintenance operations experience
  • Experience working with regulators & customers
  • Experience working in airplane systems engineering
  • Experience working with BCA airplane programs

Summary Pay Range:
  • $171,700 - $232,300
