This position is remote, but you must be local to Phoenix, AZ.

U-Haul is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join the platform operations team as a Windows server, and Database Administrator. The ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality, be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude. Additionally, they will have experience working with Microsoft SQL, high availability, and working in large environments.

Duties:

Managing SQL Server & Database access

Monitor and respond to SQL server performance degradation

Make optimization recommendations to SQL queries

Troubleshoot issues with applications connecting to SQL databases

Perform SQL server and database maintenance

Monitor database backups

Respond to capacity issues on database servers

Perform SQL upgrades and Server migrations

Research, review, and test new versions of database platforms

Engaged with all major issues related to database platforms, reviewing for faster future resolution

Design complex solutions, partnering with other Technology groups

Research emerging technologies

Mentor other members of the team

Participate in an on-call rotation

Requirements/Education:

3-5 years of experience with Microsoft SQL 2016 or newer. Duties could include those listed above

3+ years of Windows Server experience. Duties could include patching, managing access, troubleshooting performance, etc.

Experience with cloud-hosted databases, both native and virtual

CentOS/RHEL/Oracle Linux experience preferred

Postgres experience preferred

2-year computer technology degree or equivalent work experience required
