Job Details

Role: Senior Network Engineer (VoIP)

Expected Duration: 12 months / 2080 hours.

Location: Hybrid (4-5 days a week onsite). Candidate must be local to the Austin area.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Install and maintain network hardware, components, and cabling racking and stacking
  • Provide after-hours and technical support, troubleshoot and resolve network issues both onsite and off-site.
  • Ensure the stability, and performance of LAN/WAN infrastructure, conduct performance and capacity planning.

Minimum Candidate Characteristics:

  • 8 years of experience designing and implementing new network solutions or improving current networks.
  • Experienced installing and supporting network equipment.
  • Routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP
  • 4 years of experience in VoIP Engineering or telecommunications
  • Experienced with SIP, RTP, and VoIP protocols
  • 2 years of networking knowledge
  • TCP/IP, NAT, and QoS principles

Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:

  • Experience with a TX State Agency.
  • Experience with cloud-based VoIP solutions and UCaaS
  • Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associated (CCNA-Collaboration and/or Enterprise) or similar

Responsibilities:

  • Installing network hardware, components, and cabling.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues on the network.
  • Ability to rack and stack networking hardware within onsite and off-site racks in accordance with requirements.
  • Ability to provide technical support through various means of communication.
  • Collaborate easily with business unit and project managers.
  • Assisting operations team in the form of network design, implementation, and problem resolution.
  • Meet quality, productivity, turnaround time and other expectations.
  • After hour support and any other ad hoc duties.
  • Optimize stability, availability, reliability, and performance of networking infrastructure.
  • Conduct and make recommendations on LAN & WAN resource, performance, and capacity planning.

Required Skills:

  • 8 years of Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of the current network
  • 8 years of Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment, including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP
  • 8 years of Wireless Design, Configuration
  • 4 years of Experience in VoIP engineering or telecommunications
  • 4 years of Proficient experience with SIP, RTP, and VoIP protocols
  • 4 years of Experience with VoIP platforms such as Cisco Call Manager, etc
  • 4 years of Understanding how to analyze and optimize voice quality metrics
  • 2 years of Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, NAT, and QoS principles

Preferred (Optional):

  • 5 years of Advanced knowledge of EIGRP, STP, BGP, VPC, mLACP, MLag,VRF,IPv4 subnetting, VSS, IGMP, PIM, Anycast-RP, MSDP, 802.1x, EAP-TLS, PEAP-MSCHAPv2, TACACS+, SYSLOG, Cisco IOS, Cisco NX-OS, Cisco EVPN
  • 2 years of Working Knowledge of Cisco DNA Center
  • Strong sense of responsibility and be driven to finish mission
  • Experience managing complex technical projects with minimal guidance
  • 2 years of Experience with cloud-based VoIP solutions and Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS)
  • 4 years of Working experiences related to VoIP, including encryption and firewall configurations
  • 4 years of Expertise in VoIP technologies, including but not limited to SIP, H.323, and VoLTE
  • 4 years of Experience with network monitoring tools and VoIP performance analyzers4 years of Knowledge of telephony hardware, such as IP phones and gateways
  • 4 years of Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associated (CCNA-Collaboration and/or Enterprise) or similar
