Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Enterprise Architect with hands-on experience in Avolution Abacus and deep knowledge of enterprise architecture modeling frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate). The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, modeling, and evolving enterprise architecture capabilities to drive strategic transformation, technology standardization, and data-informed decision-making.
Summary: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Enterprise Architect Avolution Abacus & EA Modeling to join our team. This role will lead to the development of current and future-state architecture models across business, application, data, and technology domains. The ideal candidate will be skilled in using Abacus to deliver actionable insights, maintain architecture repositories, and support decision-making through visual dashboards and governance frameworks like TOGAF and ArchiMate.
Responsibilities:
Enterprise Architecture Design & Modeling
Develop, manage, and maintain enterprise architecture models using Avolution Abacus.
Capture current (as-is) and future (to-be) state architectures, including business, application, data, and technology layers.
Facilitate architecture modeling workshops with stakeholders across business and IT.
Define and document architecture viewpoints, principles, and patterns.
Meta-Modeling & Framework Customization
Define and extend meta-models: Understanding how to customize the ABACUS meta-model (attributes, relationships, element types).
Model governance frameworks: TOGAF, ArchiMate, BPMN
Multi-layer architecture modeling: Business, Application, Data, Technology, Security, and Physical layers.
Data Integration & Automation
API and scripting (JavaScript):
Use ABACUS API (REST, JavaScript) to automate tasks, workflows, or custom validations.
Create custom scripts for importing/exporting data and performing batch operations.
Integration skills:
Integrate with external systems (e.g., ServiceNow, CMDBs, Excel, SharePoint, Power BI).
Handle round-tripping from Excel, Visio, UML, BPMN tools, etc.
Automate syncs with cloud platforms or repositories.
Modeling & Simulation
Advanced diagramming:
Create layered, interconnected views across business and IT domains.
Define multiple model types: Capability maps, process flows, system landscapes.
Architecture simulation:
Scenario modeling, what-if analysis, and impact analysis.
Capability-based planning and road mapping.
Technology obsolescence and lifecycle planning.
Algorithm & Analysis Proficiency
Custom algorithms:
Develop and modify cost, risk, and performance algorithms using ABACUS visual algorithm editor or JavaScript.
Technical metrics modeling:
TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), ROI, agility, maintainability, risk scores.
Monte Carlo simulations:
Understand and execute probabilistic models for risk and reliability analysis.
Avolution Abacus Platform Expertise
Configure and maintain Abacus meta-models, repositories, and frameworks.
Enable architecture governance and automated compliance through Abacus rule sets.
Design and deliver dashboards, roadmaps, and architecture views for decision-makers using Abacus.
EA Governance and Collaboration
Support Enterprise Architecture governance processes (e.g., review boards, standards).
Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to align architecture with strategic goals.
Lead or contribute to capability mapping, technology rationalization, and portfolio assessments.
Reporting & Visualization
Advanced dashboards:
Build interactive dashboards for CIOs, Architects, and Planners.
Leverage ABACUS Views, Reports, and Power BI integrations.
Custom report generation:
Use ABACUS Report Writer for dynamic, real-time document generation (PDF, Word).
Visualization frameworks:
Sankey diagrams, heat maps, dependency matrices, Gantt-style roadmaps.
Repository and Model Governance
User roles and access control:
Design model repositories with role-based access and version control.
Model governance & quality checks:
Enforce modeling standards, naming conventions, and validation rules.
Collaboration:
Use ABACUS Enterprise or Cloud for model sharing, feedback loops, and model locking/versioning.
Deployment, Admin & Platform Management
ABACUS cloud or on-premises:
Deploy and administer ABACUS in enterprise environments (Windows, SQL Server).
Security & compliance:
Understand data security configuration, encryption, audit trails.
Model backup, migration & upgrade:
Manage version control, backups, and model migrations during upgrades.
Enterprise Architecture Governance (e.g., EA boards, project portfolios).
Data architecture modeling (Entity-Relationship Diagrams, Data Flows).
Cloud Architecture Mapping (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform reference architectures).
EA KPI definition & tracking.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
10 years of experience in Enterprise Architecture with direct modeling experience.
Strong hands-on experience with Avolution Abacus (modeling, dashboards, meta-model design).
Proficiency with TOGAF, ArchiMate, BPMN, or similar EA frameworks.
Understanding business, application, and infrastructure domains.
Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills to engage stakeholders and lead architecture reviews.
