Title: Java/J2EE Developer
Client: State of New York
Location: Albany, NY (Hybrid)
Duration: 30 Months
Work Hours: 40 hrs/week
Job Description:
This position will be in support of the NYS Tax Modernization Program. This program will encompass multiple projects to modernize legacy systems within the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, which is responsible for billions in state revenue. This position is targeted for the Real Property Systems Modernization project. The position requires an expert level candidate to develop programs and functionality for the modernization of the real property system.
Required Skills
- 84 months experience with J2EE technologies including JDBC, JSP and XML.
- 84 months experience developing, building, and testing Java EE applications using modern IDE's, such as Eclipse, NetBeans, or IntelliJ.
- 84 months experience using J2EE frameworks such as Spring or struts and Application Servers such as Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere or WebLogic.
- 84 months experience writing SQL statements for relational databases.
- 84 months of experience in system analysis and design of multi-tiered transactional systems.
- 60 months experience in performance tuning applications interacting with databases.
- 60 months of experience in messaging technologies, such as MQ, JMS, Kafka.
Responsibilities
- Interact The selected candidate will be responsible for all phases of the System Development Life Cycle for complex projects.
- The responsibilities will include both new development as well as maintenance tasks.
- Specific tasks will include, Guiding the technical design for modernization of legacy systems.
- Coordinating the technical solutions among various technical support groups.
- Making changes in multiple systems in real time to enable changes requested by user group.
- Implementing technical solutions.
- Developing tax processing system components and maintaining existing processing systems.
- Supporting production tasks including analysis of issue, proposing and implementing solutions for defect resolution.
- Coordinating with development team on development activities and integration testing.
- Developing technical design documents and program specifications.
- Guiding requirements gathering sessions.
- Guiding the analysis of requirements and system design work.
- Coding and performing unit and integration tests of programming assignments.
- Writing and tuning SQL.
- Supporting user testing efforts.
- Performance tune new and existing applications.
- Mentoring less experienced staff.
