Job Description:

The IT Director, Enabling Services, is a strong leader who can combine modern Information Technology knowledge and program & process expertise to lead and transform major initiatives across Innovative Medicine R&D Development Systems. Development Systems includes Global Development (Clinical); Global Regulatory, Global Medical Safety, Cross-Development Data & Analytics, and Enabling Services.

The IT Director (along with their team) will collaborate strategically with key business and IT leaders (VPs, Senior Directors, Directors) as well as internal and external partners (finance, procurement, Technology Services, key vendors) to manage and facilitate overall cross-development activities. This includes program management for strategic projects, managing financials, fostering cross-development synergies, innovation, and optimization, coordinating communications across teams, and developing strategies and approaches for execution.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Oversee Program Management of large, multi-year, initiatives in collaboration with Platform Leaders, Product Group Owners, and other stakeholders.
  • Align Strategic Priorities: Manage overall release plans, prioritize execution of product roadmaps, and ensure capabilities are integrated seamlessly.
  • Monitor progress against defined goals, schedules, budgets, and expected benefits, performing risk assessments and addressing critical dependencies. Foster alignment across teams to ensure successful delivery of incremental business value.
  • Drive governance, stakeholder engagement, and leadership reporting to ensure program transparency and accountability.
  • Act as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) for coordinated execution across product domains. Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and technical teams to manage dependencies, risks, and scope changes across teams. Measure and track metrics to enhance team performance and outcomes. Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and adapting Agile best practices.
  • Oversee Development Systems BUS IT/OPS IT budgets in partnership with Portfolio Team, Product Group Owners, Domain RTEs, Finance, and key business leaders. Develop and monitor budget plans, track variance reporting, and facilitate financial reviews.
  • Coordinate with Development Systems Leadership to drive strategy, process harmonization, and stakeholder alignment across teams. Act as advisor to Development Systems Senior Management to drive accountability and optimization across all teams within Development Systems.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement while driving alignment on dependencies and resource planning across teams.
  • Manage contracts and vendor relationships in collaboration with Procurement.
  • Partner with leadership to deliver timely and accurate executive reporting (e.g., TLT reporting, R&D Governance updates).

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree is required. Advanced Degree (MS, MBA) is a plus.
  • 10+ years of relevant IT and/or Pharmaceutical/Healthcare experience is required.
  • Proven record of managing teams and developing talent is highly preferred.
  • Strong technical background, familiarity with R&D domain processes, platforms (e.g. AI, Veeva, CTMS, Safety Systems, Analytics etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with large-scale global implementations is a huge plus. Experience acting as an RTE or Agile Program Manager is a plus. Proficient in Agile concepts.
  • Exceptional facilitation and leadership skills with an ability to manage cross-team dependencies and foster alignment.
  • Expertise in managing complexity, risk, and multi-stakeholder objectives in a global/ agile environment.
  • Strong financial management experience, including budget management within IT organizations (familiarity with J&J enterprise financial cycles is a strong plus). Experience with Procurement processes.
  • Ability to adapt IT solutions to business strategies and champion Process/Change Management practices.
  • Outstanding communication, influencing, and leadership abilities to navigate matrixed organizational structures. Ability to communicate and present across all management, functional domains, and organizational levels. Strong decision-making/problem solving skills required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$173,000-$299,000

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program.
