Description As a Video Codec Algorithm Engineer within our small and dynamic group, you will be at the forefront of innovation, tackling complex technical challenges and playing a key role in shaping the future of video experiences across Apple products. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a deep passion for video coding and processing technologies, coupled with strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $171,600 and $302,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Responsibilities
- Spearhead R&D in emerging media compression technologies and standards.
- Design and implement innovative video compression/processing algorithms optimized for existing and future hardware platforms.
- Collaborate with hardware and software architects to define and integrate media features and algorithms for upcoming products.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience.
- Expertise in video and image coding principles, algorithms, and techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of video compression standards such as H.264, HEVC.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++.
- Excellent software design, problem-solving, and debugging abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both objective and subjective visual quality assessment methods.
- Understanding of hardware-based techniques with the ability to develop ideas that are hardware-friendly.
- Familiarity with video processing algorithms (e.g., scaling, noise reduction, tone mapping) is a plus.
- Proficiency in digital signal processing and information theory is a plus.
- Knowledge of the latest computer vision and deep learning technologies, and their application to video processing, is a significant advantage.
- Excellent collaboration skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
