Senior Network Engineer
This role oversees the lifecycle management of the Networking portfolio, ensuring a balanced approach that delivers high-quality solutions for the companies' lawyers, staff, practice groups, and clients.
The company is located in Washington D.C. and will be a hybrid model of one day a week in the office.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Oversees the lifecycle management of the Firm's networking portfolio, delivering a technology environment that is stable, secure, and scalable to meet business needs.
- Leads the design and implementation of both on-premises and cloud infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless networks.
- Manages day-to-day data center operations and infrastructure maintenance, collaborating with third-party vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
- Develops and maintains comprehensive infrastructure documentation such as architecture diagrams, system configurations, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with Information Security, IT Security Solutions, Application Solutions, and other IT teams to align on infrastructure standards and support broader functional objectives.
- Monitors and optimizes infrastructure performance, integrity, and security to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Provides Tier 3 technical support for the Firm's infrastructure in a 24x7 environment, covering both on-premises and cloud-based systems.
- Works closely with IT Security Solutions to design and integrate infrastructure with security technologies, including perimeter defense, logging and monitoring, and identity and access management.
- Leads capacity planning and system optimization initiatives for infrastructure solutions, focusing on performance tuning and scalable environment design.
- Recommends schedules, and executes routine maintenance and support tasks, including security audits, system upgrades, reconfigurations, and performance enhancements.
- Proactively identifies, mitigates, and resolves issues across the infrastructure stack to maintain a seamless and high-quality end-user experience.
- Provides infrastructure subject matter expertise to support application teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to ensure cohesive delivery of infrastructure services.
- Over 10 years of relevant experience as a Network Engineer or Senior Network Engineer, preferably within a large law firm, professional services organization, or legal information services provider.
- Proven expertise in managing the full system lifecycle of global infrastructure solutions and services.
- Extensive experience designing infrastructure for global, multi-tenant environments, including both on-premises and cloud-based architectures.
- Strong proficiency in local area network (LAN) administration.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls is required.
- Solid experience with SD-WAN technologies, with a preference for Palo Alto solutions.
- Familiarity with Cisco technologies, including Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), Catalyst switching, and enterprise routing.
- Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex networking issues, with a strong ability to identify root causes quickly.
- Practical experience with routing protocols such as BGP.
- Proficient in using infrastructure monitoring tools and platforms.
