Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Network Consultant to join their team. This role is focused on maintaining and enhancing network infrastructure, ensuring robust security and operational readiness within a dynamic, and technology-driven environment. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in networking, cloud technologies, and security, with a preference for those who have worked in the oil and gas sector. The position offers the opportunity to manage complex network systems and contribute to critical projects aimed at improving network capabilities and performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and manage network hardware, including firewalls, switches, and access points.
  • Configure and support AWS networking services such as transit gateways, Route 53, VPCs, and Security Groups.
  • Monitor, identify, analyze, and proactively remediate network vulnerabilities.
  • Provide after-hours support for corporate and SCADA network environments as needed.
  • Manage and deploy Edge Modems and troubleshoot cellular and satellite technologies for remote sites.
  • Perform software and firmware updates, including port configurations and performance tuning.
  • Administer firewalls, with preference for FortiGate and Palo Alto technologies.
  • Document and diagram processes, procedures, standards, and playbooks to ensure service health and maintain critical IT capabilities.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in networking, with a strong background in managing enterprise networks.
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in AWS networking, including transit gateways, Route 53, VPCs, and Security Groups.
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with switches and wireless access points, preferably Juniper and Mist.
  • Experience with firewalls, preferably FortiGate and Palo Alto.
  • Familiarity with cellular and satellite technologies for remote site connectivity.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Availability for after-hours support as needed to maintain network integrity and performance.
