SUMMARY

  • The Principal Technical Architect is a senior, hands-on role responsible for end-to-end technical oversight of Managed IT Services clients and infrastructure projects. This position ensures client environments are secure, stable, and aligned with evolving business and technology needs.
  • Working closely with Systems Engineers, Technical Support Analysts, Project Managers, and other teams, the Principal Technical Architect defines technical scopes, builds and maintains project plans, executes complex technical tasks, and supports critical systems. They also serve as a trusted advisor to clients, driving best practices, standardization, and long-term infrastructure strategies.
  • This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise across a wide range of systems, and excellent communication skills. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including participation in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation to support critical client operations.
  • Infrastructure Architecture Design and implementation of scalable, secure environments across on-prem, private, and hybrid cloud platforms.
  • RDS Server & Farm Administration
  • IIS Installation & Configuration
  • SQL Database Creation, Management, Backups & Administration
  • VMware Technologies vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and related virtualization tools and best practices.
  • Cloud Platforms Azure, AWS (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudFormation, etc.); cloud architecture, migration, and hybrid cloud design.
  • Private Cloud Experience with private cloud infrastructure, automation (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), and orchestration.
  • Security & Compliance Infrastructure security best practices, identity and access management, encryption, patching, and governance.
  • Networking DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, subnetting, firewalls, VPNs, routing, and load balancing.
  • Disaster Recovery & High Availability DR planning, replication strategies, backup systems, and high availability configurations.
  • Scripting & Automation Familiarity with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, VBS) for automation and system administration.
  • Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure roles, with at least 3 5 years in a senior architecture or lead engineering position.
  • Demonstrated success in leading infrastructure projects from concept to completion in client-facing or service provider environments.
  • Experience installing and configuring MS SQL Server
  • Experience supporting enterprise application software.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS services and hybrid cloud architecture.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise networking, storage, and compute technologies.
  • Experience working within Managed Services or consulting environments is highly desirable.
