Description
The Critical Environment Technician (SCET) - Technical Writing Specialist is responsible for authoring, reviewing, and maintaining high-quality procedural documentation that governs operations in mission-critical environments. This includes EOPs, SOPs, MOPs, and MSOWs used across data center and infrastructure operations. The role demands a deep understanding of CE systems and the ability to translate complex technical processes into clear, actionable documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Documentation
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive EOPs, SOPs, MOPs, and MSOWs in alignment with CE standards.
  • Ensure all documentation includes required front matter sections such as procedure overview, safety requirements, supporting documentation, and effect of procedure.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and safety teams to validate procedures and incorporate feedback.

System Expertise
  • Apply working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems to ensure procedures are technically accurate and operationally sound.
  • Interpret one-line diagrams and extract relevant data from design documents to support procedure development and system understanding.
  • Support troubleshooting and emergency response efforts using documented procedures across these systems.

Procedure Governance
  • Lead the review and approval process for MSOWs, ensuring compliance with risk level protocols, safety standards, and operational requirements.
  • Maintain version control and change logs for all procedural documents.
  • Support vendor and contractor onboarding by providing orientation on procedural expectations and documentation standards.

Training & Mentorship
  • Train junior technicians and contractors on the use and interpretation of CE procedures.
  • Participate in CEQ programs, contributing to the development of procedure creation and review standards.

Operational Support
  • Assist in emergency response and troubleshooting using documented EOPs.
  • Support audits and inspections by providing accurate and up-to-date procedural documentation.
  • Contribute to the Procedure Matrix and ensure site-specific procedures are properly cataloged and accessible.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in critical environment operations or facilities management.
  • Proven experience in technical writing for CE operations, including authoring and reviewing EOPs, SOPs, MOPs, and MSOWs.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, and fire systems in mission-critical environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and extract technical data from design and engineering documents.
  • Experience with SharePoint workflows and document management systems.
  • CEQ Level 2 or higher certification preferred.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $46.00/hr.
