Job Title: Staff Engineer Backend
Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Duration: Full-time / Long-term Contract
Open to: GC-EAD, USC
Priority: Immediate need (2 positions)
About the Role
We are seeking 2 highly experienced Staff Backend Engineers to join our core engineering team. These individuals will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of mission-critical backend systems, driving scalability, distributed architectures, and performance improvements.
While this role does not involve direct people management, it requires strong technical leadership, influence, and mentorship across teams. You will be expected to contribute ideas, bring architectural opinions, and lead by example in coding, design, and best practices.
This is a hybrid role candidates must be local to Plano, TX and able to work 3 days onsite.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of large-scale backend services and APIs using C#.NET & MSSQL Server.
  • Architect distributed systems with high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles for modular, evolvable systems.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to drive technical roadmaps, scoping, and prioritization.
  • Optimize backend performance for latency, throughput, and efficiency.
  • Mentor engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and technical guidance.
  • Champion engineering best practices for CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and observability.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and risk mitigation.
  • Stay current with backend and distributed system technologies, introducing improvements to the stack.
Must-Have Qualifications
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience (4+ years in backend development with C#.NET).
  • Advanced expertise in MSSQL Server (schema design, performance tuning, indexing, stored procedures).
  • Proven experience in building distributed systems with eventual consistency (Event Sourcing, CQRS, Saga patterns).
  • Strong knowledge of scalability techniques (sharding, partitioning, load balancing, microservices orchestration).
  • Hands-on experience with DDD (Domain Modeling, Aggregates, Repositories).
  • Proficiency with ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, Dapper.
  • Cloud experience with Azure or AWS.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Exposure to NoSQL (MongoDB, CosmosDB) or streaming platforms (Kafka).
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or serverless architectures.
  • Open-source contributions or published work in distributed systems.
  • Prior Staff or Principal Engineer experience in fast-paced enterprise environments.
