About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Database Architect with deep expertise in Azure SQL Server Hyperscale to lead performance optimization and large-scale data management initiatives. This is a hands-on role where you will work independently to stabilize and optimize critical database workloads, including a primary table exceeding 18 TB.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead performance tuning, schema cleanup, and optimization for Azure SQL Server Hyperscale databases.
- Manage and optimize very large tables (multi-terabyte range) for performance and reliability.
- Identify and resolve inefficiencies in existing SQL Server usage.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align database architecture with business requirements.
- Provide immediate hands-on expertise while contributing to long-term data platform strategy.
Required Skills:
- Expert-level experience with Azure SQL Server Hyperscale (HA configurations).
- Proven track record managing and optimizing terabyte-scale databases.
- Strong SQL performance tuning, schema design, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience transitioning from outsourced data teams to internal ownership.
- Familiarity with enterprise-scale data platforms and cloud-native architectures.
