Network Engineer

Arraya Solutions, a leading Mid-Atlantic technology firm, is looking for a Senior Network Engineer/Team Lead to join our team!

The Senior Network Engineer/Team Lead designs and plans network systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network systems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud-based networks.
• Working with BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, Multicast, MPLS, QoS, Firewalls, and WAN technologies.
• Providing support on with Cloud IaaS with MS Azure and AWS.
• Cloud automation, including experience with Python, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Experience with Cisco Nexus 9K platforms
• Knowledge and experience in other areas of Digital Technology (security, computing, operating systems, application infrastructure and development, etc.) will help you adapt to the business acumen of the area.
• Investigate complex network related issues to resolution.
• Analyze requirements, and develop and deploy technical solutions according to business objectives.
• Analyze requirements, determine feasibility, costs, benefits, etc., and subsequently develop and present a business case / recommendation
• Develop and implement network architecture strategies that align with the organization's objectives and growth plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and analyze network requirements, provide recommendations, and implement solutions.
• Monitor and analyze network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure network reliability and performance.
• Ensure network security by developing and implementing policies, procedures, and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, provide technical support, and maintain documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor junior network engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Keep up to date with emerging network technologies, industry trends, and best practices, recommending and implementing improvements as appropriate.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and evaluate products and services to ensure effective network solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience working with enterprise network solutions (HW and SW defined networks, routing, switching, firewall, application load balancing, wireless, DNS, monitoring, and packet analysis)
• Deep knowledge and understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols.
• Strong understanding of network protocols and technologies, including IP, Ethernet, routing, switching, wireless, and Azure networking.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and network management tools.
• Experience onboarding and managing a managed NOC for rapid problem detection and response.
• Experience leveraging infrastructure observability tools to drive service-level improvements.
• Experience with network security best practices, including vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection, and incident response.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with industry-standard certifications, such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent, is highly desirable.
• Hands-on experience working with Microsoft Azure networking.
• Possess a systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, and a sense of ownership and drive.
• Technologies: Cisco routing/switching/Firewalls (FTD, ASA w/ Firepower), IDS/IPS, Fortinet SD-WAN, Azure Networking, Wireshark.
