Azure Data Architect

This would be a hybrid role in San Antonio, TX - ALL VISAS are accepted

Preference is given to candidates who currently live in San Antonio, TX, and have oil and gas experience!

Domain: Oil and Gas Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business unit IT teams to discuss, gather, and document analytics solution requirements.
  • Partner with IT Infrastructure team architects to define, acquire, and deploy cloud services required for a given cloud analytics solution.
  • Design, develop, implement, and support new and existing data & analytics solutions ingested from multiple source systems.
  • Day-to-day management and support for analytics platforms to ensure availability and optimal performance.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills needed to function effectively as a member of the team.
  • Exhibit customer focus while interfacing with business partners.
  • Work on other reporting and business intelligence related tasks as necessary.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and other relevant tools.
  • Architect and implement data warehouse solutions on Azure Synapse, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, business analysts, and domain experts to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing for large-scale datasets, considering factors such as data security, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement data governance policies and best practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries, stored procedures, and data processing workflows.
  • Stay updated on the latest Azure services and features related to data engineering and incorporate them into existing and future projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business insights and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing data solutions on the Azure platform, with hands-on experience in Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, schema design, and performance optimization techniques in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, or Scala for data manipulation and transformation.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific data challenges and requirements in the oil and gas sector is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Azure certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert are a plus.
