Automation Engineer Hybrid Contract

Our enterprise client has an immediate opening for a hybrid contract position for an experienced Automation Engineer. Candidate will have solid expertise in Powershell scription and automation.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience with OpCon or equivalent orchestration platforms, with a focus on automation for measurable business outcomes.
• Proficient in PowerShell scripting, including advanced use of modules, error handling, and reentrant script design for resilient automation workflows.
• Strong working knowledge of Python, with practical experience integrating data processing, orchestration logic, and system automation.
• Applied data science capability, including data preparation, analytics, and model integration to support intelligent automation.
• Background in machine learning engineering, including model deployment, evaluation, and operationalization (not limited to LLMs).
• Creative problem solver who thrives in environments where challenges are novel rather than repetitive, and where experimentation and iteration are essential.
• Engineering mindset with a deep understanding of orchestration, automation design, and fault-tolerant, reentrant processes.
• Ability to balance innovation with operational stability, ensuring automated solutions are maintainable, observable, and aligned to business outcomes.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to translate between technical automation design and business process impact.
• Preferred: Onsite availability; however, remote arrangements may be considered for exceptional candidates.

Qualifications

Background in Computer Science/Engineering with 10+ years of experience.

Bachelor's degree preferred but not required

Knowledge of programming in Windows using Visual Studio, including Visual Basic, C++, C#, Java, .NET programming and ASP.NET.

Knowledge of SQL Programming in Oracle and SQL Server.

Scripting using PowerShell and Windows Batch.

Knowledge of OpCon or similar IT Process Automation software very helpful.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Platforms.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.

Great organizational skills (able to handle multiple priorities).

Strong skills in gathering requirements, analysis, design and implementation of tasks assigned.

Willingness to learn new technologies, computer languages and programs.

Results oriented with excellent problem solving skills.

Detail oriented with clear communication skills
