Job Description:

Pay Rate: $27.89/hr; DOE

Under general technical supervision, this staff position will assist in the design and development of software and computational tools to model carbon and other material flows within the global chemical and materials industry. The hourly position (20 hours/week maximum) is available for the Spring and Summer semesters 2025 with potential to continue.

Essential Duties:
  • Assist the team in making decisions about the design and architecture of the software tool(s)
  • Create and/or manage relevant databases
  • Create and/or manage underlying computational code
  • Other tasks as assigned by faculty

Desired Qualifications:
  • Software development experience in with code written in languages such as Python and Julia.
  • Experience with platforms or tools to develop web-based software.
  • Experience in creating databases and user interfaces
  • Experience in designing containerization technologies and Docker solutions to embed optimization code within application.
  • Experience in building scalable solutions and data pipelines for storing and performing real-time transformation on large datasets.
  • Be proficient in Python, SQL, Git, UNIX.
  • Experience in optimization and mathematical programming is beneficial.

Working Environment:
  • Climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position.
  • Constantly detects and operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties.
  • Expected to be responsive to customers, engaged in work production, resourceful, flexible, and respectful of others.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
