JOB DESCRIPTION

Principal Chemical Engineer - seeking a creative engineer with at least a BS in Chemical Engineering and 10-15 years experience with evaporation, distillation and related thermal separation technologies to join our experienced staff of chemical engineers. Experience in working effectively with customers from a wide variety of industries and in configuring, planning, supervising, and analyzing pilot plant testing is required. Demonstrated ability to solve complex chemical processing problems, design equipment and processes, and work on multi-discipline teams is highly desired. The position also explores new opportunities and processes that can be developed, designed, and introduced into new or existing markets.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for working effectively with customers from a wide variety of industries to develop thermal separation process solutions via pilot testing and/or process simulation.
Plan, design, analyze data, and execute pilot plant tests using client's technology combined with traditional unit operations. Prepare concise and technically sound pilot plant test reports.
Design and specify process equipment, instruments, valves, piping systems, control systems, and fully packaged process systems.
Develop and execute engineering turnover packages (ETOPs) and functional acceptance tests (FATs).
Provide field support for commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of client's process systems at various client sites.
Operate and troubleshoot evaporators, heat exchangers, distillation columns, pumps, and instrumentation and controls, including control loop tuning.
Assume additional related responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
B.S. Chemical Engineering.
10-15 years of experience designing and specifying process equipment including evaporators, heat exchangers, vapor-liquid separators, distillation equipment, pumps, tanks, etc.
Experience with thermal separation equipment such as thin-film evaporators and distillation columns.
Proficient in developing process flow and piping & instrumentation diagrams.
Proficient in developing instrumentation and valve specifications.
Experience in performing HAZOP studies, developing control philosophies, and writing controls narratives.
Excellent attention to detail and verbal communication skills with a strong background in technical writing.
Ability to solve chemical processing challenges and develop efficient process solutions.
Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Works well individually and in a team environment.
Innovative thinker who can solve unique challenges related to chemical processing, thermal separations, and mass transfer.
Experience with ChemCAD/Aspen and AutoCAD/NanoCAD, and other programming/modeling software.
Working knowledge of control system configuration and programming is a plus.
Working knowledge of Epicor Kinetic is a plus.
Travel requirements are typically 10 to 15% annually.
