Job Title: Junior Data Analyst

Location: Columbia, MD (Hybrid)
Duration: Long-Term Contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Junior Data Analyst to support data analysis, visualization, reporting, and governance activities. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience working with structured and unstructured data, using tools and platforms for data management, ETL, and analytics. This role will support senior data engineers and analysts in maintaining and improving data systems and pipelines, ensuring high data quality and usability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform data analysis to support business and technical objectives.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining data reports and dashboards using appropriate visualization tools.
  • Support data cleansing, transformation, and enrichment activities.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and analyze data from relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Assist in the development of source-to-target data mappings and data migration plans.
  • Help maintain data documentation, metadata, and data inventory repositories.
  • Monitor data quality, accuracy, and consistency across systems.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance and security policies.
  • Participate in troubleshooting data-related issues and suggest improvements to data processes.

Key Technologies & Tools:

  • Databases: DB2, SQL, Oracle, RDBMS, NoSQL
  • ETL & Data Platforms: ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend), data analytics platforms
  • Languages/Tools: SQL, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Python (basic preferred)
  • Concepts: Data Analysis, Data Reporting, Data Governance, Data Standards, Data Security

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in data analysis, data management, or related fields.
  • Proficient in SQL and database querying.
  • Basic understanding of ETL processes and data integration techniques.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data standards, and security practices.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with legacy systems and data migrations.
  • Exposure to DB2 and mainframe data systems.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • A master's degree in a relevant field is a plus.
