ECS is seeking an Integration SME / Developer to work in our Arlington, VA office (hybrid) . Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

Job Description:

ECS is seeking talented professionals who love a challenge to join us in building the next-generation Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Cyber data solution. The CDM Program is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) dynamic approach to strengthening the cybersecurity of Federal networks and systems through better awareness and visibility into their security posture and cyber threats. ECS is responsible for designing, building, deploying, operating, and maintaining a complete 'Data Services' solution which includes the collection, normalization, visualization, and sharing of cyber data from more than 100 Federal agencies. The CDM Data Services product is a cloud-hosted solution comprised of multiple Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS), software configuration packages, and custom code which work together to operate as an integrated solution tailored to meet DHS requirements.

We are seeking professionals who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment where problem-solving, critical thinking, and a holistic approach to serving the mission are key. Our program operates within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). An aptitude and enthusiasm for continuous learning, improvement, and cyber security is a must!

ECS is looking for an Integration SME/Developer to support designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines that facilitate the seamless flow of data across various systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient data processing, integration, and delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, ETL processes, and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex data integration projects. Candidates should have a solid understanding of application architecture and interfaces, as well as experience with data modeling, hands on configuration, performance tuning, and monitoring/optimizing of distributed stream processing platforms. We are seeking a problem solver who enjoys the challenge of tackling technical tasks and problems. A strong desire and aptitude for learning is a must - our solution is rapidly evolving, along with new requirements, technologies, and the threat landscape.

Required Skills:
  • At least 6 years of experience:
    • Designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and efficient data pipelines to support diverse data processing needs.
    • Optimizing and troubleshooting data pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
    • Ensuring data quality and integrity throughout the entire data pipeline by implementing appropriate validation and monitoring mechanisms.
    • Performing data mapping and modeling to ensure accurate data flow and transformation.
    • Writing code with programming languages such as Python and Java.
    • Leveraging message queuing systems; Kafka or RabbitMQ preferred.
    • Working with distributed stream processing platforms such as Kafka Streams, Flink, or Spark for large-scale real-time data processing and analysis.
    • Developing microservice based applications utilizing modern tools and components such as containers, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECR/ECS/EKS/Fargate, and container registries.
    • Leveraging git code repositories (e.g. Github, Bitbucket)
    • Incorporating Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) capabilities into the development lifecycle.
  • 2+ years of experience implementing schema evolution strategies to accommodate changes in data structures over time.
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and their native services.
  • 2+ years working in an Agile development methodology environment.
  • Experience working closely with Infrastructure and DevSecOps teams to integrate data pipelines with existing infrastructure and ensure seamless data flow.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to create and maintain documentation for data integration processes, configurations, and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Desired Skills:
  • Desire to stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies related to data engineering and incorporate them into the existing systems.
  • Experience working with cyber tools, technologies, and missions.
  • Understanding of machine learning.
  • Contributor to open source projects.
  • Experience with tools in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Understanding of current cyber exploits, attack methodology, and detection techniques using a wide variety of security products including COTS and open source.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Certification in relevant technologies or platforms.
