Guidewire BillingCenter Developer
Summary
The Guidewire BillingCenter Developer will be responsible for designing, configuring, and integrating billing workflows within the Guidewire suite. This role focuses on the end-to-end delivery of billing solutions, encompassing data migration, system integration, and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate has strong coding skills in Gosu and Java, complemented by a deep understanding of P&C insurance billing processes.
Responsibilities

  • Configure and enhance BillingCenter modules including Invoices, Payment Plans, Collections, Write-offs, and Adjustments.
  • Develop business rules, scripts, and integrations using Gosu and Java to extend BillingCenter functionality.
  • Build and maintain web service integrations (REST/SOAP) between BillingCenter and external systems including policy, claims, and financial platforms.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data transformations to support billing data ingestion and migration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, create technical designs, and produce architecture documentation.
  • Support production environments by troubleshooting issues, tuning performance, and coordinating upgrades or version control activities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, including PCI-DSS and NACHA, maintaining data integrity and system security.
  • Participate in Agile development cycles, contributing to sprint planning, code reviews, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance during planning phases to ensure scalable and maintainable architecture decisions.

Requirements

  • 5 8 years of experience working with the Guidewire platform, focused on BillingCenter; familiarity with PolicyCenter and ClaimCenter preferred.
  • At least one Guidewire certification.
  • Proficiency in Gosu and a solid working knowledge of Java development on the JVM.
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, or similar) and strong SQL skills for data migration and modeling.
  • Proven success in integrating BillingCenter with external systems using REST or SOAP web services and handling XML/JSON data formats.
  • Solid understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance billing processes including payments, collections, and reconciliations.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to produce design diagrams, map data flows, and document system integrations clearly.

Preferred

  • Guidewire certification in BillingCenter Development or Configuration.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) or microservices architectures.
  • Familiarity with PolicyCenter and ClaimCenter
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, build tools (Maven/Gradle), and version control (Git).
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery methods and experience in distributed team environments.
  • Background in payment processor integration, open banking, or large-scale billing transformation projects.
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes and data analytics within a billing context.
