Job Title: SAP S/4 Logistics Consultant

Location: New Hampshire (US Hybrid)
Employment Type: Contract Position

Job Summary:

The S/4 Logistics Consultant will play a critical role in transition from Vision and ECC to SAP S/4HANA. This role focuses on optimizing logistics and sales order management processes, aligning regional operations with global standards, and ensuring a smooth transition for business users across retail, wholesale, and digital channels.

The consultant will collaborate closely with U.S. and global business leads across Retail, Wholesale, Digital/eCommerce, Operations, and Merchandising, as well as with Finance and IT, to review business process designs (BPDs), identify gaps, and support deployment readiness activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and localize existing BPDs for region-specific logistics processes; identify and document additional rules where gaps exist.
  • Review, validate, and localize existing Business Process Designs (BPDs) for logistics processes; identify and document additional regional requirements.
  • Focus on end-to-end retail logistics flows, including inbound/outbound deliveries, stock transfers (STO), ASNs, inventory adjustments, and return processes.
  • Define and document process rules for sales order creation, including manual entry, Excel/job uploads, and returns referencing sales or delivery documents.
  • Support configuration and testing of Available-to-Promise (ATP) and stock allocation rules by channel (Retail, Digital, Wholesale).
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure Accounts Receivable and tender postings align with logistics transactions.
  • Coordinate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers to establish inbound/outbound and quality control integration points.
  • Develop and execute testing scenarios (SIT, UAT, mock data validation); assist with defect triage and resolution.
  • Contribute to cutover planning and execution, including data reconciliation and inventory mapping between legacy systems and SAP.
  • Support role mapping to ensure SAP roles align with business responsibilities.
  • Prepare training materials and end-user enablement content to build foundational SAP knowledge across user groups.
  • Conduct workshops and documentation sessions to explain logistics and order management processes in business-friendly language.
  • Partner with internal IT and external 3PL teams to ensure smooth operational integration.

Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Strong consulting experience in SAP S/4HANA MM / Logistics (inbound/outbound, STO, ASN, stock transfers, returns).
  • Proven experience in SAP S/4HANA MM and Logistics (inbound/outbound processing, STO, ASN, stock transfers, returns).
  • Strong understanding of SD processes, including sales order creation (manual and automated), returns, and credit/debit memos.
  • Working knowledge of ATP rules, backorder processing, and stock allocation by sales channel.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and refine existing BPDs and localize for regional business needs.
  • Familiarity with retail pricing conditions for order and return scenarios.
  • Experience collaborating with non-SAP 3PLs and understanding their integration touchpoints.
  • Hands-on experience with UAT planning, scenario design, and defect management.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to translate technical topics into clear business terms.
  • Minimum 2 full-cycle SAP implementations (design to cutover); 3+ cycles preferred, ideally in retail or consumer goods sectors.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in migrating from SAP AFS to SAP S/4.
  • Awareness of Finance/AR integration (Sales Audit, tender postings, reconciliation).
  • Experience with middleware/EDI (e.g., SPS Commerce, Boomi) for 3PL and marketplace integrations.
  • Prior exposure to change management in retail projects (training transactional users, shifting from Excel/black-box processes to S/4).
