Purpose:
This individual will be part of the Technical Operations group, supporting the Enabling Technologies platform. This platform is responsible for robotics, powered handpieces, and other hardware and software technologies enabling our businesses in Joint Reconstruction, Spine, and Trauma.
This position will provide technical expertise in the design, programming, installation, testing and qualification of modules, systems, and equipment to test the electro-mechanical aspects of digital systems, applying principles and techniques of software and electrical engineering. They will collaborate with Operations and Production management and will participate in the testing of returned units, collecting data and analyzing patterns.
You will be responsible for:
Preparing and participating in design of test benches for electrical, electronic & electro-mechanical product testing purposes
Reviewing product design plans to ensure that appropriate access for testing is considered
Testing the electrical/electronic aspects of our digital product according to established policies, procedures, government regulations, and customer requirements.
Choosing the most appropriate tests and modifying them to the specifications of the product
Defining and automating testing processes as appropriate, applying electrical and programming skills
Leading the analysis of test results of advanced malfunctions and attributing failures to the correct modules, determining root cause through software & electronic diagnostics, and us participating in and running CAPAs
Supporting advancement of the Robotics testing roadmap and realization of this roadmap, including electro-mechanical/robotics/automated testing solutions for the manufacturing processes.
Engaging with the R&D team in the development of complex electrical and electronic designs
Leading in the compliance and safety testing of various electrical & electro-mechanical systems for regulatory agencies
Supporting of existing testing solutions deployed throughout operations including improvements of mechanical and electrical test fixtures and tools
Creation of instructions and documentation for the use and maintenance of advanced complex test bench solutions
Coordinating requirements definition for our testing space & facilities
Working with multiple engineering functions including electrical, software and manufacturing engineering and other partners to establish test coverage ownership
Understanding the subsystem level impact of testing coverage choices and guiding the team to make efficient and effective testing trade-offs
Education:
A BS or MS in a technical field (e.g. mechatronics, equipment automation, robotics)
Experience and Skills:
Required:
Strong systems test engineering experience
5+ years electrical engineering experience with surgical products preferred.
Knowledge in design and application of custom test platforms (Labview) or similar including integration/communication with complex digital systems
Able to make continuous, incremental improvements to existing electrical and software testing design platforms
Experienced in ISO9001/13485, or medical device manufacturing environment.
Methodical and comprehensive, yet flexible and able to easily adjust to evolving requirements and navigate in a fast-paced environment to meet tight schedules.
Experience testing devices across multiple fields, including mechanical, electrical, embedded firmware etc.
Preferred:
Strong skills in test control programming (PLC) or similar 5+ years
New product introduction desirable. Robotics knowledge a plus.
Lean or Six Sigma experience
Other:
Up to 10% travel, domestic and international required

Total Base Pay Range 91,000.00 - 165,000.00 USD Annual
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
