Job Title: 7139 - Senior Project Manager Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Systems (Must Reside in Sacramento to be Considered)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system related IT projects. The Senior Project Manager will oversee all phases of project management initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closure using proven methodologies and strong technical knowledge. This role requires coordination with cross-functional teams, technical staff, and healthcare stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of EMR solutions and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle project management for large, complex EMR initiatives.
  • Define project scope, requirements, deliverables, and documentation standards.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, release plans, and testing strategies.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and other research.
  • Manage system integrations, enhancements, and upgrades related to EMR solutions.
  • Oversee design, development, and implementation of EMR projects including:
    • Patient Portal
    • Health Information Exchange (HIE) solutions (CommonWell, CareQuality, Seamless Exchange)
    • Mental Health Group Scheduling Utility
    • Digitized referral forms and patient refusal processes
    • GenAI and Artificial Intelligence initiatives
    • CQIT reporting solutions and scheduling optimization efforts
  • Lead joint application development sessions with clinical and IT teams.
  • Develop and maintain IT security and compliance plans for EMR projects.
  • Monitor risks, implement quality assurance processes, and enforce compliance with EMR regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations, project status reports, and recommendations.
  • Provide training, knowledge transfer, and train-the-trainer support for maintenance and operations teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in IT project management, with at least 5 years managing healthcare IT or EMR system projects.
  • Strong background in project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile, Waterfall, hybrid approaches).
  • Experience with system integration, testing, and rollout of enterprise IT solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
  • Familiarity with Health Information Exchange (HIE) solutions and interoperability standards.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements for EMR systems, including healthcare IT security and privacy standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead executive and staff-level meetings.
  • Experience preparing project documentation, schedules, reports, and technical assessments.

Desired Qualifications

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
  • Experience managing GenAI/AI-related IT projects.
  • Hands-on experience with EMR scheduling optimization, reporting tools, and patient engagement solutions.
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT governance processes and change management frameworks.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Project, Visio, SharePoint, and standard Office applications.
  • Ability to provide technical assessments and recommendations for process improvements.

  • Standard business hours (8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m., Monday Friday).
