Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in SQL Server, T-SQL, AWS, OpenShift, Linux (RedHat), virtualization, performance tuning, Docker, and Kubernetes to lead and execute the migration of on-premises databases to Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, cloud migration, and containerization technologies, ensuring high availability, security, and performance optimization.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA with strong T-SQL skills.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, CloudFormation).
- Experience with OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
- Proficiency in Linux (RedHat) administration and shell scripting.
- Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and hybrid cloud environments.
- Strong expertise in database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- Experience in migrating on-prem databases to cloud (AWS, Azure, or VCP).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, AWS Certified Database Specialty, RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD).
- Experience with other databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL) is a plus.
- Knowledge of Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP) or other telecom cloud environments.
