Technical Skills:

  • Perform detailed failure analysis on returned PC units (laptops, desktops, or workstations) to isolate root causes at the component and system level.
  • Use diagnostic tools, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and thermal imaging to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and firmware-related issues.
  • Partner with HP design, manufacturing, and supplier engineering teams to validate corrective actions and prevent recurrence of systemic failures.
  • Analyze field return data and quality metrics to identify trends and proactively address reliability concerns.
  • Create clear technical reports and RCA documentation summarizing findings, containment actions, and recommendations.
  • Maintain lab infrastructure, test benches, and ensure safe operations.

Education and Experience Required:

  • 3 7 years of experience in PC failure analysis, hardware validation, or reliability engineering.
  • Solid understanding of motherboard design, component-level diagnostics, BIOS, and peripheral interfaces (USB, PCIe, SATA, etc.).
  • Experience using debug tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Familiarity with FA methodologies and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of thermal and mechanical failure modes in PC assemblies (e.g., solder joint fatigue, connector wear, fan failure).
