Summary:
This critical role within Mechanical Engineering is responsible for developing and implementing designs for mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-systems used in medical devices. The candidate will drive innovation and new ways of working, complete large and complex designs and display subject matter expertise in multiple areas of the design discipline. This role is considered a specialist within the organization with high levels of authority. This role will approve projects, plans and tasks in all areas of engineering. The role will drive cross functional collaboration with all areas of the business to move designs into production.

Lead and complete conceptualized design solutions for mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-systems, meeting critical requirements and timelines
Completes detailed engineering analysis of new and existing designs to verify robustness and design intent, with little or no oversight
Produce and approve detailed drawings utilizing GD&T and engineering best practices
Drive large complex engineering changes through the company design change and release process
Leads and completes complex root cause analysis investigations
Prepare prototypes for testing and provide technical assistance on design feasibility
Work with Suppliers to address technical issues with designs
Work closely with manufacturing and field service in the development of designs
Conduct and approve prototype testing and laboratory best practices
Leads and completes drafting and design reviews with a cross functional team
Perform all verification activities and document results for knowledge transfer
Embraces simulation culture in all work activities, conducting or directing work in the discipline
Ability to plan and forecast large work scopes within and outside of cross functional team
Subject matter expertise in a particular area or sub-assembly of the products designed
Train and mentor less experienced engineers
Direct activities of other engineers, lab technicians, etc

You are proficient at using 3D CAD software (preferably NX) to develop designs utilizing proper design intent.
Strong knowledge of various manufacturing methods (i.e. machining, sheet metal and castings)
You have prior experience utilizing GD&T
You have experience with facilitating or participated in FMEA and DFMA activities
You are proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
Required experience / skills to have for the success of this role
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (advanced degrees a plus)
8-10+ years of industry experience in product design and development
Experience with product development in an FDA regulated environment
High Proficiency with 3D CAD (preferably NX) to develop designs utilizing proper design intent
Strong experience with designing to part manufacturing methods including machined, sheet metal, castings and plastic injection molding
Strong electromechanical knowledge of motion technologies including motors, drives, etc
Strong proficiency with GD&T best practices and ability to perform complex tolerance stackups
Driven FMEA and DFMA activities
FEA or CFD simulation skills or close working relationships needed
Successfully conducted complex troubleshooting and root cause investigations
Proficiency with PLM systems (preferably Teamcenter) and workflows
Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
Knowledge of Scrum Agile methodologies
Strong written and oral communication skills
