Summary
As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for serving as the primary technical liaison for customers, promoting solutions like embedded RFID, machine vision cameras, medical-grade hand scanners, embedded touchscreens, and custom technologies. You'll lead technical evaluations, deliver presentations and demos, prototype applications, estimate system costs, and support proof-of-concept deployments. This role requires strong communication, multitasking, and teamwork skills, with a passion for solving problems and engaging with customers.

As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for serving as the primary technical liaison for customers, promoting solutions like embedded RFID, machine vision cameras, medical-grade hand scanners, embedded touchscreens, and custom technologies. You'll lead technical evaluations, deliver presentations and demos, prototype applications, estimate system costs, and support proof-of-concept deployments. This role requires strong communication, multitasking, and teamwork skills, with a passion for solving problems and engaging with customers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner with Sales to drive revenue growth through technical solutioning and customer engagement.
- Serve as the key technical advisor, identifying customer needs and recommending strategic solutions.
- Conduct product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and provide integration support.
- Act as the main technical point of contact for customers, offering implementation guidance and best practices.
- Support sales proposals by estimating product costs and engineering effort.
- Provide expertise in the integration of Novanta products with devices such as PLCs, PCs, or Controllers.
- Represent Novanta at field events, trade shows, and seminars, promoting product capabilities.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, software engineering or a related technical field.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving capacity to uncover customer needs and recommend creative solutions. Strong customer-centric focus.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with engineering and operations processes (e.g., BOMs, project estimation, ECOs), proficiency in coding languages like Python, C++, C#, or Java, exposure to Machine Vision, Robotics, AI, or Deep Learning, and comfort with CRM tools such as Salesforce.
- CRM: Familiarity with customer management tools like Salesforce
Travel Requirements
- Up to 70% of the time within the USA. Some EMEA travel may be necessary to visit corporate technical centers.
- Valid US driver's license required.

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Standing for extended periods of time
Compensation and Benefits
- The salary for this role will range from 69,148 to 95,078 annually based on full-time employment. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to location, relevant skills, training, experience, education, etc.
- Certain roles may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives. Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
