Description

SAIC is looking for an Engineering Technician V in Crane, IN to support the U.S. Navy.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Work pertains to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment.

Job duties include:
  • Provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement.
  • Prepare design drawings and assist with the design, evaluation, and/or modification of machinery and equipment.
  • Perform non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contact personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, review, analyze, and integrate the technical work of others.
  • May train and be assisted by lower level technicians, and perform one or a combination of the following:
    • Design, develop, and construct major units, devices, or equipment; Conduct tests or experiments; Analyze results and redesign or modify equipment to improve performance and report results.
    • From general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), develop designs for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry.
    • Analyze technical data to determine applicability to design problems; select from several possible design layouts; calculate design data; and prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.; may check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design.
    • Plan or assist in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance; determine test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conduct tests using all types of instruments; analyze and evaluate test results, and prepare reports on findings and recommendations.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years of direct experience with the SPS-48 radar system or equivalent military radar systems.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance; Interim Secret needed to start.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of electronic principles, radar technology, and Radio Frequency (RF) systems.
  • Must be able to read and understand technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must have strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces when necessary.
  • Proficient with mechanical and electrical tooling and testing equipment.
  • Must be willing to climb and work in heights of excess of 100 feet in the air on board Naval Platforms.
  • Must be attentive to details to ensure products meet Government required quality committments.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10 times a year to varying locations OCONCONUS.
  • Must be able to lead and organize teams both organically and inorganically.
  • Must possess excellent communication and written skills.

DESIRED
  • Technical school training or an Associate's Degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) experience a plus.
