Senior Information System Security Officer (ISSO) Location: Austin, Texas (ONSITE 4 days/week)
Contract Position: 18 month Contract (with strong potential for extension and career advancement)
We are urgently seeking a highly experienced Senior Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to lead and support enterprise-wide information security efforts. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and mission-critical environment where cybersecurity is a top priority.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 10 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, including as an ISSO or equivalent role.
- 9 years of experience applying the NIST Risk Management Framework, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and applicable state-level security standards.
- 8 years of experience conducting and documenting risk assessments, including supporting documentation and reporting.
- Active Security+ certification or equivalent (e.g., CISSP, CISM).
- Experience working under and managing critical project timelines.
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical security topics to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and monitor security measures aligned with the NIST Risk Management Framework and applicable state-level standards.
- Coordinate the development and deployment of system security plans with both internal teams and external vendors.
- Engage with users to assess access controls, account permissions, and potential security violations.
- Provide expert guidance to leadership and technical staff on secure configurations and procedures.
- Design and recommend strategies to protect information systems from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other threats.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Conduct technical security assessments on both new and existing systems, including data center and physical security environments.
- Research and recommend modern tools and processes for identifying, preventing, and responding to security threats and incidents.
- Perform other security-related duties as assigned.
