Logistics:
It is desired to have this resource available locally on site (Tualatin / greater Portland area).
If that is not possible, a hybrid situation with around 50% local would be considered.
It is expected that this role can be nearly full time, however this can be adjusted as needed.
It is desired to have the engagement in place for a minimum of one year to start.
We would really like to perform, but this is a challenging position mainly because they need a candidate local to Portland because of the onsite requirement.
This is a migration from TDM/SONET to Nokia, so they specifically want someone who has done this previously or has deep knowledge of Nokia 7050 and/or Nokia 7705 products.
Function:
To add an MPLS network design and support resource to our internal engineering design team, in support of our communications transport technology change from TDM/SONET to Nokia's MPLS platform.
Resource will ideally have Nokia product expertise, service configuration development and deployment expertise and product maintenance/upgrade expertise. Experience working on an MPLS network in a utility environment would be a plus.
Skills / Responsibility:
- Deep knowledge of the Nokia SR 7750, 7705 product lines and network management applications (NFM-P and NSP), including server migration protocols and firewall requirements.
- Deep knowledge of the Nokia 1830 optical transport platform and network management application (NFM-T), including server migration protocols and firewall requirements.
- Deep knowledge of interfacing with the Nokia Wavence microwave radios
- Deep knowledge of Nokia 7705 SAR Hm and -Hmc cellular modem platforms
- Deep knowledge of operational support of a Nokia MPLS network, including firmware upgrades, NMS upgrades, and end of life equipment upgrades and physical reconfigurations.
- Experience assisting in addressing network issues with field technicians.
- Familiar with MPLS networks applied in the electric utility environment, including the types of services (protection transfer trip, SCADA/EMS, metering, AMI, field voice, etc.) carried across the transport communications network.
- Ability to quickly learn a customer's network architecture.
- Ability to learn a customer's processes (documentation, workflows, engagement with other teams).
- Overseen and reports internally to the Comm Engineering Manager
- Technical leadership from the internal Lead Network Architect
- Responds to MPLS project management
