Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer
Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid) or Remote

Salary Range: $115,000 – $130,000 (Full-time)
Experience Level: 12+ years
Only Full Time - No C2C-or Transfer Case

Role Overview

We are seeking highly experienced Backend Engineers to join a growing HealthTech team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in backend engineering, cloud-native architecture, and healthcare benefits systems. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and scaling backend services that power core benefits administration platforms.

Must Have Skills

  • Healthcare Domain Expertise:

    • Deep understanding of health benefits administration

    • In-depth knowledge of ICHRA regulations

    • Strong grasp of HRIS workflows and employer/employee enrollment processes

  • Backend Engineering Expertise:

    • Java (Spring Boot) and Quarkus frameworks

    • PostgreSQL (AWS Aurora) for relational database design and optimization

    • Strong experience in AWS cloud services, including Lambda, EventBridge, S3

    • Experience with Redis or other distributed caching solutions

    • Proficiency in API integrations and building scalable Microservices (domain-driven design focus)

Good to Have

  • Familiarity with carrier operations

  • Experience with funding reconciliation

  • Exposure to regulatory audit requirements

Ideal Candidate

  • 12+ years of backend engineering experience with a proven track record in large-scale, distributed systems.

  • Strong ability to design, build, and optimize cloud-native applications in healthcare or benefits administration domain.

  • Hands-on with scalable microservices architecture, API-first development, and cloud-native patterns.

  • Domain-driven mindset to bridge business logic with technical implementation.
