Job Details

The System Engineer, Architect (SE-Arc) is the primary administrator for a specific technology in the Data Center. The SE-Arc has overall responsibility for the design, management and planning for either the Data Network and or the Data Center. The SE-Arc performs these tasks with no supervision and in partnership with the Data Center Manager. The SE-Arc plans the comprehensive maintenance of the system. The SE-Arc sets standards for the data and or system security, backups and recovery procedures. The SE-Arc is responsible for the design, creation, review and upkeep of security, backup, recovery and maintenance procedures for the Data Network and or the Data Center. The SE-Arc does capacity planning and monitors systems across the infrastructure. The SE-Arc will provide regular reports on environmental condition including but not limited to performance, patches, storage growth, age and refresh as defined by Management. The SE-Arc will follow all Security protocols and may assist in developing these protocols. The SE-Arc will monitor for and participate in the resolution of Security events.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: 10 years of related experience. Requires advanced knowledge in highly specialized systems and procedures.

Qualifications

The ability to update and create technical procedural documentation. Expert administrative knowledge of Windows server, networking and storage best practices and or Cisco Networking best practices. Should be considered an expert in their specialty, and fully competent in other technologies used in the Data Center. Expert knowledge of IT infrastructure, change management methodologies, problem solving methodology. Expert understanding of Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure within a Data Center environment. Fully Competent with racking different types of equipment (eg. SUN, DELL, IBM, Blade technology Cisco, etc...) within a data center environment with emphasis on organized and clean cable management. Expert experience with Data Center monitoring tools such as SCCM, SolarWinds, NetScout, or similar technologies. Strong customer service orientation, proven ability to pay attention to details, proven dependability, promptness, and a solid attendance history.

An SE-Arc with a focus on Data Networking will have: Expert design level experience with Cisco switch routers access points. The ability to trouble-shoot many facets of network layers and components Expert experience supporting Cisco services to include Cisco routers switches and wireless access points, and leading others in this area. Expert experience with Cisco DNA, ISE and Prime. Advanced knowledge of networking components and services such as TCP IP protocols, DHCP and DNS technologies, and LAN WAN topologies and transports. Familiarity and experience with items listed as Data Center focus and the ability to serve as a above mid-level administrator in that area.

An SE-Arc with a focus in Data Center technology will have: Expert experience with blade server technology. Expert experience with Citrix VDI deployment and support. Expert experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) features. Works independently with the Microsoft Windows Server Operating systems, required for troubleshooting, driver installs, upgrades, patching and assistance with deployment of servers with design experience at a corporate level. Experience with a raised floor Data Center environment with knowledge of power, heating and cooling. Experience with storage technology hardware, EMC, Brocade, etc. Familiarity and experience in skills required in the Network focus and the ability to serve as an above mid-level administrator in that area.

Education required is High School Diploma or GED. A.A or A.S or certification(s) equivalent or 10 years experience. B.S. or B.A. in related field and specific certifications for specialty preferred with 9 years of related experience.

Experience required is ten years of related experience with no degree or 9 Years with Degree and certifications. Requires working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures. Requires experience leading teams or projects. Requires experience designing systems at the Enterprise level.
