Title: Senior Network Security Engineer
Position Overview
Our direct client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Security Engineer to join their technology team. This hands-on role is ideal for a senior-level professional with a deep understanding of securing complex IT environments, ensuring network resilience, and delivering robust infrastructure protections in large-scale organizations.
This role will be critical in designing, managing, and safeguarding the network backbone while contributing to the strategic development of cybersecurity initiatives across a hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities
Administer, monitor, and optimize core enterprise networking systems including switches, routers, perimeter defenses, VPNs, and traffic control platforms.
Architect and deploy secure network frameworks, developing reusable configurations and infrastructure standards to ensure consistency across environments.
Lead end-to-end network security initiatives from conceptual design through implementation across multi-site and cloud-integrated environments.
Deploy and maintain hardware and software components for secure network infrastructure, supporting business continuity and risk mitigation efforts.
Conduct performance and utilization analysis to ensure maximum uptime, capacity planning, and efficient allocation of network resources.
Verify compliance of all infrastructure components with internal governance protocols, cybersecurity regulations, and industry benchmarks.
Resolve complex networking issues through root cause analysis, diagnostic evaluations, and packet-level investigations.
Oversee routine maintenance, patch management, and asset lifecycle tracking to ensure operational health and license adherence.
Lead cross-functional project workstreams involving infrastructure, cybersecurity, and vendor-delivered services.
Produce technical diagrams, runbooks, and documentation to support knowledge sharing and standard operating procedures.
Support procurement and vendor management processes related to security and network assets.
Participate in rotational after-hours support for infrastructure issues and critical incident response.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep experience in enterprise-grade networking and cybersecurity systems including routing, switching, DNS/DHCP services, firewalls, VPNs, and traffic analysis.
Advanced knowledge of secure network architecture, application protocols, and real-time monitoring systems.
Skilled in analyzing packet-level data and conducting forensic-level investigations into network anomalies.
Demonstrated success in architecting secure infrastructure within regulated or high-availability environments (utilities, healthcare, financial services, etc.).
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
8+ years of experience working with enterprise network infrastructure.
At least 4 years in a specialized network security or firewall engineering capacity.
Proven ability to document complex technical systems and lead initiatives across diverse technical teams.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or security-related credentials (e.g., CISSP, Security+, Fortinet NSE) preferred.
