Job Description:
Overview: We are seeking a FortiGate Network Architect to replace a key team member and support our transition from Meraki to FortiGate infrastructure. This hands-on role requires a self-sufficient engineer who can lead small-scale network projects, implement advanced SD-WAN solutions using ADVPN, and optimize FortiGate BGP configurations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement FortiGate solutions to replace Meraki systems
- Configure and optimize BGP routing within FortiGate environments
- Design and deploy ADVPN-based SD-WAN solutions across remote sites
- Lead and execute small to medium-sized networking projects independently
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues without escalations
- Participate in change windows, including some weekend maintenance work
- Collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable network solutions
- Document architecture, configurations, and migration plans
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with FortiGate firewalls and Fortinet solutions
- Proven experience with BGP routing protocols and how they operate on FortiGate
- Strong understanding of ADVPN and SD-WAN architectures
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage and deliver technical projects
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a self-starter mentality
- Availability for limited travel (~10%) and occasional weekend work
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fortinet NSE certification (NSE 4 or higher)
- Experience with firewall migrations and network modernization initiatives
- Background in remote work environments and managing distributed networks
