Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a motivated and qualified professional to fill a Space Range Engineer position. This role provides the opportunity to work alongside a diverse, high-performing team focused on mission success.

The selected candidate will support the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC), System Delta 81 Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI) Program Office as a Space Range Engineer. Responsibilities include supporting the Physical and Live Ranges System Program Manager (SPM) with planning, analysis, acquisition, and development of Space Force range capabilities, as well as providing integrated engineering support for requirements development, design reviews, and range strategy and planning.

Key Responsibilities

The Space Range Engineer will:

  • Provide senior-level staff leadership and administrative support to the SYD 81 System Program Manager (SPM) and OTTI Program Executive Office (PEO), including consultative support and advisory services to organizational leadership
  • Conduct independent research, evaluations, and analytical assessments with a high degree of autonomy to support program and decision-making needs
  • Support program management activities, including planning, prioritization, and execution within dynamic operational environments
  • Proactively identify risks and issues, taking initiative to recommend and implement mitigation strategies
  • Communicate complex technical and programmatic information clearly and effectively to stakeholders, including senior leadership


Responsibilities

Skills and Experience

The Space Range Engineer must have:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • 10+ years of Department of Defense (DoD) experience, preferably within a Space Program Office, MAJCOM, or FLDCOM environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in program management principles, with a proven record of real-world application
  • Preferred experience with the Planning, Programming, and Budgeting System (PPBS), including development of Program Objective Memoranda (POM), Budget Estimate Submissions (BES), and Financial Plans
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to work independently as a self-starter with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear, concise manner
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams and interface confidently with senior leadership

Education and Certifications

The Space Range Engineer must meet the following:

Security Clearance

A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
