DB2 z/OS System Programmer
The DB2 z/OS System Programmer is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of IBM DB2 on the z/OS platform.
This role ensures the stability, security, and efficiency of DB2 subsystems and supports application teams with database-related issues and enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and upgrade DB2 for z/OS and related tools/products.
- Configure and maintain DB2 subsystems, including buffer pools, storage groups, and system parameters.
- Monitor and optimize DB2 performance and resource usage.
- Apply maintenance (PTFs, APARs) and manage system migrations.
- Provide technical support for DB2-related issues and participate in incident resolution.
- Collaborate with application developers, DBAs, and infrastructure teams.
- Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements.
- Maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience with DB2 on z/OS in a system programming role.
- Strong knowledge of z/OS operating system and mainframe architecture.
- Familiarity with SMP/E, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and REXX.
- Experience with performance monitoring tools and utilities (e.g., OMEGAMON, RMF).
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
