What work will you perform at Landstar?
The Field Safety Manager is responsible for advancing Landstar's corporate Safety Culture by educating Safety Officers, Customers, and BCOs (Owner Operators), and providing tools to reduce accident rates, cargo claims, and overall risk. Availability for frequent travel and after-hours/weekend availability, including overseeing related budgets and travel coordination, are essential components of this role. This role involves planning and executing regional Safety Day activities, coordinating safety meetings nationwide (including Canada), and conducting Customer M.U.S.T. visits to identify root causes of cargo damage and safety related issues. This role facilitates driver and agent safety meetings, performs fleet audits, and assists in developing loss prevention strategies. In this role, you will represent various safety and compliance departments at the management level.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead Safety Day events within assigned regions.
- Coordinate and conduct Safety Meetings for BCOs and LSOs across the U.S. and Canada.
- Conduct root cause analysis of cargo damage safety concerns during Customer M.U.S.T. visits.
- Facilitate No Zone safety demonstrations for driver education and public events.
- Conduct fleet audits
- Assist in creating and implementing loss prevention strategies.
- Represent safety, cargo loss prevention, haz-mat, operator, and equipment compliance at a management level.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three years of experience in DOT/FMCSA, Safety Operations, or combination thereof
- Current or previous CDL license
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Proficiency with computerized systems and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and AS/400.
- Strong public speaking ability including presentations
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication across diverse audiences; creative engagement with history of relationship building and interpersonal skills
- Ability to utilize a personal credit card for authorized travel and entertainment expenses while complying with all T&E policy requirements
