Job Details

Job Title: PLC Programmer / Controls Engineer Location: Plano, TX Duration: 6+ months Assignment Key Responsibilities
Design and build control panels (from concept to deployment)
Program and debug PLCs (primarily Automation Direct; others acceptable)
Create wiring diagrams, spec components, and finalize electrical BOM
Collaborate with internal design and fabrication teams
Execute hands-on panel wiring and system troubleshooting
Perform local field tests (within 30 45 mins drive), no overnight travel
Handle all aspects of controls from start to finish
Potential travel for local day-trip troubleshooting only
Technical Requirements Must Have:

  • 5+ years of PLC programming experience
  • Ladder logic programming (custom and from scratch)
  • Experience in panel design, panel build, and debugging
  • Wiring diagrams creation and troubleshooting
  • Sensor, stepper motor, and safety systems experience
  • Able to work independently sole ownership of controls scope

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AutomationDirect PLCs (preferred)
  • Alan Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff experience (acceptable)
  • Experience with MQTT or similar protocols (not required)
  • Familiarity with remote data logging, data management, or recipe management
  • Experience in food automation or food processing industry

Education Requirements
No specific degree required
Relevant hands-on experience is prioritized over formal education
Engineering degree (e.g., Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation) is a plus
