Firmware engineers at Sierra Nevada Corporation research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll conceptualize and design new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle from analog and digital electronic circuit card assemblies to fully integrated systems.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains - air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience
  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
  • Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Basic understanding of digital circuit concepts
  • Extensive experience with FPGA HDL (Field Programmable Gate Array Hardware Description Language) development, simulation and analysis, utilizing the VHDL language
  • Average to Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Visio)
  • The ability to obtain & maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Knowledge of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
  • Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516C
  • Familiarity with VHDL (preferred) or Verilog,
  • Familiarity with Vivado, Quartis, ModelSim/Questa, Aldec, ActiveHDL
  • Familiarity with bi-directional traceability
  • Familiarity with software development processes
  • Familiarity with Verification, Validation, and Quality Assurance
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Progressive experience leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures
