POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Candidates must have at least 12+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Our client is looking for a AWS Cloud Engineer to work on GitHub Cloud for TDCJ's mandated modernization. This position will be used for AWS, Azure, Google and other cloud-based initiatives to help facilitate infrastructure build out. A working knowledge of A.I. will be useful.
We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to join our team and work with our admin team to optimize, implement, and maintain our organization s cloud-based systems. A Cloud Engineer s responsibilities include deploying and debugging systems, as well as executing new cloud initiatives. Ultimately, you will work with different IT professionals and teams to ensure our cloud computing systems meet the needs of our organization.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Design, develop, and manage infrastructure using AWS services, primarily through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with CDK and CloudFormation.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
- Monitor system health and performance using AWS CloudWatch, and implement proactive measures for reliability.
- Enable and maintain cloud security posture using AWS GuardDuty, IAM, and Trusted Advisor.
- Implement cost monitoring and optimization strategies using AWS Cost Explorer and Trusted Advisor.
- Design and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including multi-region deployments and backup strategies.
- Automate routine tasks and infrastructure provisioning using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Work with SQL databases, including establishing secure connections and performing queries or basic data operations.
- Configure and support AWS networking features, including VPCs, VPNs, Direct Connect, and other connectivity services.
- Integrate and manage Single Sign-On (SSO) and Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate GenAI capabilities, including AWS Bedrock, Amazon Q, and prompt engineering (a plus).
- Support and experiment with AWS SageMaker for data science and machine learning workloads (a plus).
- Operate within Linux environments for system-level troubleshooting, scripting, and service configuration.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or DevOps with a focus on AWS.
- Proficiency in Python (preferred), Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, especially AWS CDK and CloudFormation.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services including CloudWatch, GuardDuty, Cost Explorer, and Trusted Advisor.
- Solid understanding of AWS networking concepts such as VPNs, VPCs, and Direct Connect.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and pipeline creation.
- Strong knowledge of disaster recovery and high availability strategies in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational database connectivity.
- IAM and SSO implementation experience.
- Working knowledge of Linux systems.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Familiarity with Generative AI tools and services like AWS Bedrock, Amazon Q, and prompt engineering.
- Experience with AWS SageMaker.
- AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
