Role: Cisco/Duo Systems Administrator
Location: Santa Clara, CA (Onsite will be preferred but collect information of candidates who are looking for remote work as well within california)
Duration: 5 Months
Description: Focused on delivering a successful installation and configuration of a new enterprise application. As the Senior Systems Administrator, you'll lead environment readiness and cutover activities across servers, networks, identity, and security. You'll own the Cisco stack (switching/routing/wireless, ASA/Firepower or Meraki, AnyConnect VPN, ISE/NAC) needed to support the application-planning and implementing network segmentation, firewall/NAT rules, VPN access, load balancing, QoS, and certificate/PKI requirements. In parallel, you'll architect and administer Duo for MFA/SSO at scale, including SAML/RADIUS integrations with the application, conditional access policies, device trust, enrollment workflows, and user lifecycle. Responsibilities include building and hardening Windows/Linux hosts, integrating with AD/Entra ID and DNS/DHCP, establishing monitoring/logging, documenting configs/runbooks, and coordinating change management with vendors and internal teams.
The ideal consultant has 7+ years in systems/network administration (3+ in a senior capacity) with deep, hands-on expertise in Cisco networking/security and Duo administration supporting production application deployments. You're comfortable executing on an aggressive timeline: scoping and sequencing tasks, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving cutover/rollback plans with minimal downtime. Required strengths include automation/scripting (PowerShell; Bash/Python a plus), secure cloud/network patterns (Azure/AWS connectivity, conditional access), endpoint/MDM familiarity (e.g., Intune), and experience in regulated environments (SOC 2, HIPAA, or CJIS). Excellent communication and stakeholder management are essential, along with crisp documentation and knowledge transfer to client staff at project close. Preferred certifications: Cisco CCNP (or higher), Duo Certified Administrator, Microsoft AZ-104/SC-300, and/or Security+.
