Java Developer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Java Developer in Orlando, FL.

Overview:
We are looking for a Java Developer to join our dynamic engineering team, contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-level web applications. This role involves working with high-traffic systems built on Java 8 within IBM WebSphere and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions. You'll partner closely with business analysts and internal stakeholders to understand key drivers and data requirements, crafting solutions that empower strategic planning, analysis, and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
* Java Developer will architect, develop, and maintain robust web applications using Java 8
* Build responsive UIs with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Sencha JS)
* Design and integrate RESTful APIs with a focus on performance and security
* Collaborate with product owners, QA, and DevOps to deliver end-to-end solutions
* Participate in code reviews and promote clean coding practices
* Scope and estimate development tasks; contribute to project planning and scheduling
* As a Java Developer, you will create technical documentation for system architecture and implementation strategies
* Troubleshoot and resolve production issues through root-cause analysis
* Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field (preferred)
* 7+ years of professional software development experience
* 3+ years of enterprise-level Java 8 development in high-volume environments
* Experience with Sencha JS or similar UI frameworks
* Solid understanding of RESTful services and API design
* Familiarity with Oracle, MS SQL, and Snowflake
* Proficiency with Git (Bitbucket) and Agile/Scrum methodologies
* Strong skills in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript

Technical Proficiencies:
* Email and internet-based communication
* Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Windows OS
* Programming: Java, JavaScript, SQL, XML, JSON

Preferred:
* Experience with Java 17+ and migration from Java 8
* Backend development using Spring Boot
* Background in Healthcare Services or Health Insurance (highly desirable)
* Integration with third-party APIs
* Familiarity with Maven, Gradle, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab)
* Exposure to AWS or Azure
* Knowledge of additional front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Thymeleaf)
* Strong unit testing practices
* Excellent communication and decision-making skills
* Ability to interpret instructions across various mediums
* High level of discretion and confidentiality
* Strong organizational and time-management skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
