As a Lead Security Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Cybersecurity and Technology Controls line of business, you are an integral part of team that works to deliver software solutions that satisfy pre-defined functional and user requirements with the added dimension of preventing misuse, circumvention, and malicious behavior. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions with tamper-proof, audit defensible methods across multiple technical areas within various business functions.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative security solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions and break down technical problems
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Minimizes security vulnerabilities by following industry insights and governmental regulations to continuously evolve security protocols, including creating processes to determine the effectiveness of current controls
  • Works with stakeholders and business leaders to understand security needs and recommend business modifications during periods of vulnerability
  • Conducts discovery, vulnerability, penetration testing, and threat scenarios on multiple organizational assets to identify and assess if vulnerabilities are present, and executes threat modeling for multiple applications including external applications interacting with the internal JPMorgan Chase network
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
  • Automate application and infrastructure deployment pipelines in both on-prem and public cloud environments
  • Write unit/integration test cases, perform functional/security/performance testing for the application modules. Create Software documentation and operational run books
  • Identify hidden problems and patterns and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Help to produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by engineering.
  • Lead delivery of applications in a collaborative and independent manner, mentor other developers in the team


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on security engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Skilled in planning, designing, and implementing enterprise level security solutions
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Experience with threat modeling, discovery, vulnerability, and penetration testing
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Application development experience for enterprise environments with strong analytical, problem solving skills
  • 5+ years of applied experience working in Java: Spring, Spring boot frameworks, Python
  • Hands on experience working on Relational/NoSql databases, SQL, ORM technologies, AWS - EC2, IAM, S3, Lambda etc.,
  • Proficient in developing highly scalable applications which can handle millions of requests and event driven architecture
  • Excellent knowledge of Object-Oriented concepts, analysis and design using common design patterns


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Developer or Solutions Architect Level AWS Certification.
  • Experience in developing applications using Python
  • Experience in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience in Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting.
  • Experience in build and deploy container-based applications (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Exposure to Malware Analysis
  • Experience in UI technologies like Angular or React
