Consumer Software Engineering is all about the end user. This team manages all front-end development for the consumer-facing apps that house Disney's portfolio of brands. For example, if you're watching Disney+ on your Apple TV - and the interface is engaging, responsive, and seamless - you have this team to thank. The list of platforms this team manages includes: iOS & Android; Smart TVs like Samsung, LG, Chromecast, Roku, & Amazon; game consoles like Xbox and PlayStation; and desktop & mobile web browsers.

The SDK Core Operations team provides operational tools, and we support SDK features and services of the Disney Streaming platform. The SDK is the client side component for interacting with Disney's streaming services, and is used by application developers across multiple subject areas to simplify integration with our backend services. The right person for this role thrives in a fast-paced environment, and loves problem solving; is an excellent communicator; uses data to answer questions and drive decision making; and loves to learn new things.

You will contribute to designing new tools and automation systems to support development, testing, and deployment of the latest streaming applications and technologies across Disney+, ESPN+, MLB.tv, Hulu, and Star+. Responsibilities
  • Develop code and processes for the SDK configuration service, the backbone of the Client SDK across all of Disney's streaming products.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and product owners to define requirements and develop new features for the Client SDK configuration service.
  • Support engineering teams with coordinating Client SDK releases and investigating potential issues.
  • Occasionally help with product launches and other significant releases during non-standard business hours.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Proficient with JavaScript
  • Experience with REST API services
  • Experience with debugging and problem-solving
  • Shown architectural skills and ability to communicate about software processes, architectures, and design patterns.
  • Experience with Git for source control.
  • Experience with full-stack web-based application development is a plus
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) is a plus

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CI/CD, ETL, pipelines, and other automated tools such as Jenkins, Travis CI, or CircleCI.
  • Experience with Bash or other scripting languages.
  • Solid debugging and optimization skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills, be a team player.
  • Experience with Datadog, Sentry, or other application monitoring systems.
  • Experience with oncall support for internal or external facing applications.
  • Experience writing and maintaining technical documentation and specifications.
  • Experience in using scripting languages for task automation.

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and New York City, NY is $142,516 to $191,180 per year, the hiring range in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and Bristol, CT is $136,038 to $182,490; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $148,994 to $199,870. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
