Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer (Space) is responsible for performing activities relating to the development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing methods. Additionally, provides engineering support to the production floor ensuring a continual manufacturing process.

Designs, develops, troubleshoots and documents various mechanical and electro-mechanical processes and operations used in the manufacturing of electronic products

Supports the launch of new products

Evaluates new material and process techniques to determine economic and/or quality impact on company products, reviews inputs from suppliers, design engineering and manufacturing

Supports analysis and sets expectations of suppliers of critical components

Ability to learn product requirements with customer to ensure DFx and compatibility of processing methods

Ability to learn productivity and yield improvement roadmap for product lines through use of Lean and Six Sigma initiatives

Supports ongoing reliability needs

Participates in manufacturing and production readiness review

Conceives and plans projects involving definition and selection of new approaches to the manufacturing process

Determines cause for rejected parts and their disposition

Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications

Reviews and analyzes discrepancy or yield information and recommends corrective action

Supports contractual specifications to determine job scope and requirements and takes necessary steps to implement

Supports the team in cost studies and equipment recommendations

Supports the quote team in the preparation of cost estimates for new business

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum two years related experience in the Aerospace/Space technology

Possess an understanding of high-mix/low-volume manufacturing

Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes including SMT and circuit card assembly to support aerospace/space technology

Hands on technical experience with SMT processes, soldering, and testing requirements

Support the PCB Assembly Design for Manufacturability

Hands-on experience with electromechanical assembly processes

Experience with document collection, hardware hierarchy and specification reviews with customers

Knowledge of continuous flow manufacturing using Lean techniques

Exposure to Lean tools/methods (Standard work, 5S, cells, TPM, 1 piece flow, Set Up reduction, Poka Yoke)

Knowledge with work standards and visual manufacturing instructions

Strong interpersonal skills and team building skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and CAD tools experience

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Inter, intra-department and external contact required

Possess or have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government granted security clearance
