IT Security Specialist - Midlevel-- Fulltime -(H1B/OPT Accepted)

Location: Austin, TX (Initial Remote)

Duration: Long Term

We're seeking a seasoned IT Security Specialist to join our dynamic security team! With 7+ years of experience, you'll play a critical role in safeguarding our IT infrastructure and data from cyber threats. You'll leverage your in-depth knowledge of security best practices and technologies to identify vulnerabilities, implement security controls, and ensure our systems remain protected.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential security risks.
  • Implement and manage security controls (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, access control lists, etc.).
  • Monitor security logs and events for suspicious activity.
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents.
  • Develop and maintain security policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Participate in security awareness training programs for employees.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams (Network Operations, Development) to ensure security is integrated throughout the IT lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in IT security or a related field.
  • Proven experience in security assessment methodologies (e.g., penetration testing, vulnerability scanning).
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and frameworks (NIST CSF, CIS Controls, etc.).
  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
  • Working knowledge of network security concepts (firewalls, VPNs, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • A+ and Security+ certifications preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with security automation tools (a plus).
